Lecture: ‘Diving in wet treatments’ 2nd edition (IPCE).
First edition of the confernces cicle Re-Enpapelamos was held solely in-person. This year it is repeated free and on-line. ¿Which are the main benefits of bathing? ¿Do wet treatments justify the potential drawbacks involved in them? Let’s see it in five diverse artefacts, washed from least to major degree: a pencil drawing, a gouache, two hand-coloured technical drawings on tracing paper and one pastel drawing.
Conservation, facsimile binding and dust jackets for Encyclopaedia
Some projects are extremely complex regarding the ethical professional decision making, and this is certainly one of the toughests! Rather than trimming the original beautiful bindings with marbled edges, some facsimile dust-jackets were made to protect the books, that were also restored preserving all their features.

Workshop: Conservation and repair of damaged books
Workshop in which we'll learn to look at books in order to understand their structure: case bound bindings, paperback, perfect bindings, with or without sewing, hard or soft covers, tight back or hollow spine. Only afterwards it is possible to make the proper diagnosis of damage, in order to proceed to the repair practice.

Conservation of leather binding with an iron lock
Bound manuscript with lock inlay. Full leather renaissance binding with brass bosses and iron clasps. An iron inlay on both covers locks the book. It has blind tooling decoration (rectangles and flowers). Handwritten laid paper folios. It is a register of the builders working by that time in Barcelona (1766). Conservation treatment: Reinforcement of the structure (loose covers, broken thongs). Cleaning of the binding, fixing the stuck lock and conservation treatment of further metallic elements (clasps and bosses). Dry cleaning of folios and tear mending.
