¿Which are the main benefits of bathing? ¿Do wet treatments justify the potential drawbacks involved in them? Let’s see it in four diverese artefacts, washed from least to major degree: a pencil drawing, a gouache and two hand-coloured manuscripts. It could be assumed that the major benefit of wet treatment is the visual, and yet we’ll see that what’s not visible, the physical and chemical stability, often surpasses the visual improvement.

First edition of the conference Re-Enpapelamos was solely held in-person. This year it is repeated free and on-line. I took the chance to make a few changes.

Case #3: Tracing paper (chemically digested). Municipal Archive of Rentería.

Case #4: Impregnated tracing paper. Municipal Archive of Renteria. More about the replacement of impregnants on impregnated tracing paper.
