Conservation of medieval manuscripts on rag paper with rolled sewing
Conservation of two medieval manuscripts on rag paper and limp vellum binding. The sewing thread is made of rolled parchment, sewn with independent knots onto inner parchment stays. One of them onto outer leather tackets as well.

Choir book, an oversized manuscript on parchment. The bookbinding is full leather on wooden boards with brass edges, as well as clasps, also in brass. 1634, renaissance style.

Only afterwards it is possible to make the proper diagnosis of damage, in order to proceed to the repair practice.

Conservation of leather binding with an iron lock
Bound manuscript with lock inlay. Full leather renaissance binding with brass bosses and iron clasps. An iron inlay on both covers locks the book. It has blind tooling decoration (rectangles and flowers). Handwritten laid paper folios. It is a register of the builders working by that time in Barcelona (1766). Conservation treatment: Reinforcement of the structure (loose covers, broken thongs). Cleaning of the binding, fixing the stuck lock and conservation treatment of further metallic elements (clasps and bosses). Dry cleaning of folios and tear mending.
Conservation of gouache on paper, painting by Joan Ponç
"Gran Pastoral", gouache on paper, 83 x 112 cm. The artwork was lined on a Kraft paper with tapes and synthetic adhesives. It had losses and tears, and remarkable discolouration. The paper was extremely brittle. Tape and synthetic adhesives removal. Capillary wash and light bleaching, infilling of losses, lining, inpainting (mimetic criteria in the small ones, neutral color in the bigger ones).
